1962 Roman Missal
The Most Rev. Allen H. Vigneron, Bishop of Oakland, has appointed Fr. Michael Wiener of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, as Episcopal delegate for the Latin Rite of 1962 in the Diocese of Oakland.
Fr. Wiener will serve the 1962 Latin Mass community here in our parish and in the Diocese. Every Sunday the High Mass (Gregorian Schola, Children's Choir, Adult Choir, and Organ) is offered at 12:30pm and every weekday the Low Mass is celebrated in this rite at 6:00pm.
INSTITUTE OF CHRIST THE KING SOVEREIGN PRIEST
Faithful to the Holy Father, the Institute of Christ the King serves all those who are attached to the Latin Mass. The Institute has been blessed with many graces that are attributed to the mercy of our Heavenly King and the intercession of the first patroness Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception. Founded only in 1990, the Institute has nearly 50 priests, over 60 seminarians, and works in more than 35 dioceses throughout the whole world. "Live the truth in charity" (veritatem facientes in caritate) is the motto of this young community, which strives to follow St. Francis de Sales' advice: "Cook the truth and charity until it tastes sweet".
The Institute of Christ the King is present in several American dioceses e.g., Chicago, St. Louis, Rockford, Green Bay, La Crosse, and now Oakland. The Institute is called by the bishops to help preserve the Catholic traditions in this country.
One of the outstanding examples of the efforts being made by the Institute to combine faith and culture is St. Mary's Oratory of the Immaculate Conception in Wausau, Wisconsin, confided to the Institutes' care by the Most Rev. Raymond L. Burke, now Archbishop of St. Louis.
The following link will give more information about the Institute and especially the consecration of St. Mary's Oratory in Wausau by Archbishop Burke.
