Text Box: Sunday Scripture

Jesus knows us and loves us as we are. Mark often gives us a sense of the personal involvement of Jesus with people. When Jesus heals, it is seldom from a distance. He touches lepers, speaks, and listens to repentant sinners. He uses human gestures to convey his divine nature. We dare approach Him because he knows all our fears and can soothe our deepest troubles.
Isaiah prophesies that God will bring salvation for his people which will be marked by the deaf coming to hear and the mute being able to speak. James warns believers against the evils of showing favoritism to one group of people over another. In the Gospel, we see Jesus fulfilling the prophecy of Isaiah as he cures a man who is both deaf and mute.
