Text Box: Sunday Scripture We are to follow the natural law God has written in our hearts. The natural law, which God has placed in every person’s heart, provides the rules for making moral choices. Its main precepts are expressed in the Ten Commandments. The teachings of Jesus help us understand it all the more. With these things to help us, let us live the truth, so that gates of paradise may be opened to us. Moses tells the people to observe only what the Lord commands-no more, no less. In the second reading, James admonishes his listeners to be doers of the world, not hearers only. Jesus, in the Gospel, expounds on disregard for God’s commands in favor of human tradition. He says that evil comes from within the hearts of people, not from outside.
