Text Box: Sunday Scripture

God is our help who gives us strength to remain steadfast. It is often difficult to stand up for what is right and give witness to our faith. It seems that everywhere we turn, our faith is being attacked frequently by people in the media, in print and other social media forms as well. However, if we rely upon God to be our help, we will be given the strength to persevere and overcome the attacks lodged upon us.
Isaiah reminds us, in the first reading, that God will be there to help us face whatever suffering we endure in life. The second reading, tells us that faith without good works is dead. In the Gospel, Jesus teaches that to follow him, one must deny oneself, take up one's cross, and follow him.
