Text Box: Last week second collection for the Parish Development Fund amounted
This week, the 2nd collection is for the Building Fund.
Next week, the 2nd collection is for the Bishop’s Appeal Fund .
Many thanks to all those involved in the liturgy, the reception in the parish hall, the decoration of the church and hall, and to all who helped with the many preparations needed to celebrate so gloriously the Pontifical High Mass for the Twentieth Anniversary of the Tridentine Mass (now the Extraordinary form of the Latin Rite) in our church on Sunday, Sept. 20. with such beauty, joy and reverence. May God bless and reward you!

The month of October is dedicated to Mary under the name of the Most Holy Rosary; October 7 is celebrated as the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. In the 15th & 16th centuries, there were extensive promotions of devotion to the Rosary. On October 7, 1571, Christians won an important naval battle against the Moslem Turks at Lepanto (near Greece). The credit for the victory was thought to be the rosary. Pius V ordered that the annual anniversary of this victory be celebrated with a Marian feast of Our Lady of Victory. In 1573, Holy Father Gregory XIII permitted churches to celebrate a feast of the Holy Rosary. After another victory against the Moslem Turks in 1716, Clement XI extended the feast to the universal church.

We have empty spots for Holy Mass intentions:NOVEMBER (11 Masses). If you would like to have Holy Mass celebrated for your intentions or for your loved ones (living or dead), please contact the parish office at: 510.482.0596, or email:
Text Box: Sunday Scripture
God is the author of marriage, and those who are faithful to the marriage covenant are richly blessed. God created man and woman to be complementary, helping each other to be faithful to God’s will. We see marriage as an important part of God’s plan. We believe that as part of God’s plan, faithful Catholics who are called to the vocation of marriage are called to be true to God and one another so they may grow in holiness, with and through one another.
In Genesis, God provides man with a partner-woman, who is flesh. In the second reading we are reminded that, by taking on our human nature, Jesus is not ashamed to call us his brother and sisters. In Mark’s Gospel, Christ teaches that marriage is intended by God to be a covenant that lasts for the whole of life.
