They have no chance to satisfy their hunger even once. Every time of the year is good to share. Our Lord Jesus said: “I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me”!!!. Please share whatever you have with others, who are less fortunate than you. We are collecting imperishable food items for the Saint Vincent de Paul Society to feed the hungry people in Oakland. In the vestibule of our church barrels for food are placed. LECTORS NEEDED Do you like to read aloud, and would you like to proclaim the readings, psalm and Prayer of the Faithful at Mass to the congregation? Also tell us when you are not available to read. God bless you! MARIAN MOVEMENT OF PRIESTS CENACLE 4th Sunday of every month at 3:30 p.m. in our church. Next Sunday October 26, at 3.30PM Holy Mass for the Marian Movement of Priests (this is a movement for lay people, priests and religious who wish to pray for priests), followed by Holy Hour with Benediction afterwards. DIVINE LITURGY This year I am celebrating the 20th anniversary since I received permission from the Congregation for the Oriental Churches to celebrate Divine Liturgy in the Greek Catholic Ukrainian Rite. It was October 7, 1988. Since that time I used to help in Ukrainian Parishes in England and in the USA. On Saturday October 25th, at 11.30am; I will celebrate Divine Liturgy in Ukrainian Greek Catholic Rite with other Eastern Rite and Latin Rite clergy. Potluck lunch to follow (please bring some dessert items to share). Please sign up list in the vestibule. We like to know how much food we suppose to prepare. About the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom! What is the Divine Liturgy? The Divine Liturgy is the highest act of worship by the Church, whereby the mystery of Christ becomes present among us, especially the Sacrifice of His human life on the Cross. The saving power (grace) from that act is made available to us. The "Divine Liturgy" it is an English translation of the Greek, "Thia Liturgia". Liturgy was the most important public act in the Ancient Greek world. We call the Liturgy Divine (or God's) because, through it, we partake of the Divine Nature; it is God's supreme act for humanity. What is the difference between the Divine Liturgy and Holy Mass? None. In the Latin Rite, the Eucharistic Sacrifice became popularly known as Missa (Mass); a word spoken by the priest at the end of the Liturgy, "Ite, missa est" Go, you are sent forth (the Mass is finished). Why do we refer to the Divine Liturgy as a sacrifice? In the Divine Liturgy, the Sacrifice of Jesus' Body and Blood is re-enacted and re-presented to the Church by the Lord Himself, Who is our Eternal High Priest. He uses the ordained priesthood as his |
