WORK OF MERCY POSSIBILITY

A parishioner is in need of financial help to pay for a necessary medical treatment which can save his life - God willing.  This parishioner has no means to pay for this treatment as he is currently unemployed.  The cost of the treatment is about $ 4,000 plus costs of medicine.  If you would like to contribute funds for this cause, please send your check to the rectory made out to St. Margaret Mary with the memo “medical treatment” written on the check.  You can place it in the collection basket, if you would like.  May God reward your generosity!

Our Lord Jesus said: “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.” Matthew 25:35-36.

Thank you very much for your generosity and for  your prompt answer; and may the Blessed Virgin Mary of Lourdes keep you under her protection.

MISSION SUNDAY OCTOBER 19th.

October is the traditional month of universal mission; the Mission Sunday collection takes place around the world in October each year in every single Church throughout the world, including the poorest, and these donations are used to assist missionaries and to fund a range of pastoral projects in Young Churches.

The theme for Mission Month and Mission Sunday 2008 is 'Go And Tell'. The Mission Sunday celebration and collection will take place on this weekend of October 18/19th.

Mission Sunday is about supporting Young Churches and missionaries in meeting the spiritual and material needs of their communities.  Mission Sunday is one day of the year which is set aside for Catholics worldwide to recommit themselves to the Church’s missionary activity through prayer, through sacrifice and a financial gift.

St. Therese of Lisieux, together with St. Francis Xavier, is the patron of missions. As previously

announced, Louis and Marie-Zélie Martin, parents of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, will be beatified today on  Mission Sunday at the Cathedral of Lisieux.

During the Parish Potluck Dinner today, Fr Jean - Marie Moreau will give a presentation of the Mission in Gabon where he spent many years as a Missionary.

OCTOBER MASS COUNT

During the month of October in all parishes in the United States we have a counting of all participants. Bishops use these numbers of diocesan statistics  to report to the Holy Father during their visit Ad Limina.

PRIESTHOOD SUNDAY - OCTOBER 26

On Sunday, Oct. 26, Catholic parishes throughout the United States will show support for their priests with prayer, celebration and dialogue.

The last Sunday of October is designated annually as Priesthood Sunday (also known as World Priest Day coordinated by the USA Council of Serra International.

Priesthood Sunday was established by the National Federation of Priests’ Councils in 2003 to provide a way for Catholic communities to express appreciation for devoted priests who serve them so faithfully. Such a celebration is increasingly relevant in light of the declining number of priests in the United States. Only about 4,000 of the 19,000 parishes in this country currently have more than one priest. Many priests serve two or more parishes by themselves. Clearly, there is a great need for a show of love and support for the priesthood.
