Text Box: Sunday Scripture

An authentic commitment to the Gospel requires more than keeping the Commandments. How hard it is to hear things that we would rather avoid! Are we like the rich young man, only partially living our faith? Jesus tells him, his disciples–and us–it is also necessary to trust in God's generous favor, grace, and mercy. This trust will help us give up material things, care for those who are poor, and be rich in the things that matter most.
In today's first reading, Solomon prayed, and prudence and wisdom were given to him. Hebrews reminds us that God's word is living and effective. In the Gospel, Jesus tells the rich young man that to have eternal life he must sell what he has, give the money to the poor, and then follow him.
Text Box: This week’s second collection will be for the Bishop’s Appeal. Last week’s 2nd collection for the Building Fund totaled $ 921.00. Next week’s 2nd collection will be for World Mission. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT! MAY GOD REWARD YOUR GENEROSITY.
