Text Box: CROSS INTERNATIONAL Catholic Outreach This weekend October 10/11, we welcome Fr Jack O’Malley from the Cross International. He is visiting our parish with a talk about this ministry to help the poor throughout the world. They deliver food, shelter and hope to the Poorest of the Poor. He will preach sermons during all Holy Masses. You can meet him after all Masses in the vestibule. 92nd ANNIVERSARY OF APPARITION OF OUR LADY AT FATIMA; 1917—2009 Every year from May to October in many Catholic Parishes around the world, Catholics celebrate the anniversary of the apparition of Our Lady to three Portuguese children: Francisco, Jacinta and Lucia. We plan to celebrate Fatima Services in our church every month with Holy Mass, the Rosary in different languages, and a procession with the statue of the Blessed Lady of Fatima inside the church. The Fatima Service will be this Tuesday, October 13th 2009 at 7.30PM. Please save this date and inform others. October 16 – St. Margaret Mary Alacoque - She is the saint of the Sacred Heart, and it is from the revelations given to her that the modern devotion to the Sacred Heart has arisen. She was a contemplative Visitation nun at Paray-le-Monial in France, and it was there that the revelations took place between 1673 and 1675. She died October 17, 1690. In 1765, a liturgical celebration honoring the Sacred Heart was approved and in 1856 this celebration become a feast day of the Church. She was canonized by pope Benedict XV in 1920. ST. MARGARET MARY, INTERCEDE FOR OUR PARISH AND PRAY FOR US. Text Box: Sunday Scripture If you seek wisdom you can find it in the word of the Lord. Wisdom is an acknowledged virtue by worldly standards, as well as by spiritual ones. It is an important virtue that should be pursued and prized by every person. As Christians, we have a great source and treasury of wisdom in the Sacred Scriptures, in particular the Gospels. They show us the road to eternal life and guide us on the way. Today's first reading proclaims the supreme value of wisdom, which comes to the one who prays for it. The Letter to the Hebrews emphasizes the power of the word of God to impact our lives. In the Gospel, Jesus teaches that worldly wealth is often an obstacle to a person's growth in faith.
