centenary year.

       On Saturday, November 29, we started a Novena Prayer to the Immaculate Conception. We will pray this prayer daily after all Holy Masses until Dec. 7th.

       On Saturday, December 6 at 11.00 am, we start to chant Akathist (the oldest Marian service – 6th century) in front of the Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes, (weather permitting), or in the church in front of the icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary. After the Marian service, we return to church for the Holy Mass. During the Holy Mass, all sick people will receive Holy Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick.

Revelation Bible Study Group meets Saturdays in Advent and January 2009 starting December 6.  Exploration of the Catechism, the Bible, and the Gospel of St. Mark; Church teaching on "the last

days".

CATHEDRAL OF CHRIST THE LIGHT

We thank all of you who donated generously to the CATHEDRAL FUND. Recently we received a gift of $ 100.00. We collected for the Cathedral Fund a total of $4,582.00!

       Please do not halt your generosity. You can  send donations any time to support the Cathedral. Remember: It’s your Cathedral. Make a check to: St. Margaret Mary with memo: for new Cathedral.  If you are not prepared to make this donation today, you can give any time. We are praying for all benefactors of our parish and for all those who support St. Margaret Mary Parish’s gift for our Cathedral.

 

ST. ANNE’S GUILD  CORNER:

       The next meeting of the St. Anne’s Guild will be on Wednesday, December 3rd, after the 6 pm Mass (about 7:20 or so) we will share a light dinner.  Please note that the Guild will be meeting on the first Wednesday evening of the month from now on.

Mardi Gras Update:  the Guild has been working to coordinate this large fundraising effort.  “Save the Date” and auction item solicitation letters were mailed out to all registered parishioners.  If you have an item that you think would be an asset to our auction, please let us know!!

We need your involvement!!  There are many jobs that need to be done to pull off a successful Mardi Gras party.  Many positions have already been filled, but a few still need volunteers.  Won’t you join us on Dec. 3rd to find out more and get involved?  As we get closer to the date of the party, Saturday, February 7, 2009, there will be more to do.  Official invitations will go out after Christmas.  Please contact Lily Mullen for more information about the Mardi Gras 2009.  (925)827-1946

Bake Sale on Gaudete Sunday, December 14 after all Masses.  Mark your calendar to come to the parish hall and purchase some delicious home baked goods. Eat your purchase in the hall (coffee will be provided) or take it home for your Sunday dessert.  Donations of home-made baked goods are also needed, so if you can, please bring your items to the hall before the Mass you would regularly attend.  All proceeds benefit the fundraising efforts of the St. Anne’s Guild.
