Text Box: Sunday Scripture

Jesus is to be King and Ruler of our lives and hearts. Today's Solemnity of Christ the King honors Christ as King of the Universe and Lord of all creation. As such, today's readings testify to His kingship and that he will one day return in glory. This solemnity also invites us to open our hearts to Christ so he can reign more fully as the King and Ruler of our lives and hearts.
The first reading speaks of one like a Son of Man being given kingship and dominion over all peoples. The second reading reminds us that Jesus is the firstborn from the dead and ruler of the kings of the earth. In the Gospel, Jesus states that his Kingdom is not of this world, and he was born to testify to the truth.
