Text Box: ADVENT – BEGINNING OF THE NEW
LITURGICAL YEAR.
The Church has her own special liturgical year and calendar in which she presents the history and mysteries of our salvation, from Creation to the Second Coming, together with the entire life of the Savior. Each Sunday and feast will present a special lesson to us for our daily living. The First Sunday of Advent is therefore the Church's "New Year's Day". In the Judeo-Christian tradition, Sunday begins at sundown of the day before; when the faithful celebrate First Vespers. We start Advent this Saturday, November 28th 5.00pm Holy Mass.

THANKSGIVING DAY (4thThursday of November; this year November 26th); this week.
Thanksgiving Day is meant to be more than a single day on which we express thanks. Originally, of course, it was intended as an occasion to show appreciation for the abundant harvest season. We Text Box: have literally thousands of reasons to be appreciative. Our litanies of thanksgiving would normally include: good health, plenty of food, a fine home, a caring family, loving friends and a strong country. Then, there are all the wonderful freedoms we possess as citizens of the United States. The list is practically unending. How easy it is to take them all for granted and never reflect or recall where our blessings originated. Who died that we would have these many benefits? Who has been especially good to us? Have we, or how have we, said thanks? The Old Testament recommends spending not only a day for celebrating thanksgiving but 7 weeks each year. Jesus asks us not only to be thankful but to express our thanks. Could we transform this annual holiday into a personal holyday? PLEASE INVITE YOUR LONELY FRIENDS.

In our church on November 27th we will celebrate three Holy Masses: 8.00 & 10.30AM, and 12.00 NOON - Extraordinary Form Holy Mass. After the all Holy Masses, bread and wine will be blessed for the Thanksgiving Table. Please bring bread and wine to these Holy Masses (or if you don’t drink wine, only bread and some juice) to be blessed. During all Holy Masses, a collection will be taken up to help poor and needy people. In the vestibule of the church, there are barrels designated for canned and imperishable foods to share with poor families. Unfortunately, some people have donated food with expiration dates over three years old! Please donate only non-perishable food items with future expiration dates. Please support this project!!!

NO 6.00PM HOLY MASS ON THAT DAY

ALL SAINTS BOOK CLUB
Are you interested in learning more about our patroness, St Margaret Mary? I realized this year that I know very, very little about her and would like to learn more. I love to read and find biographies of saints both inspirational and illuminating. If you too would like to learn more, please join the St. Anne's Guild in reading a biography of her and then gathering to discuss it - a book club meeting based on our saint! Canon Moreau recommended "The Life of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque" by Rt. Rev. Emile Bougaud so that is our pick for a book about her. We will meet to discuss the book on the week of Jan 18 at 7:00 pm in the church hall downstairs after Mass. (The exact day of the week is
