Text Box: Sunday Scripture

The Church believes in resurrection and eternal life as revealed through Sacred Scripture. Experience tells us that life on this earth is temporary. Faith teaches us that God intended life to be eternal. God offers us eternal life and reveals the glory of resurrection through his Son Jesus. We will come to inherit these blessings by believing in Jesus and uniting our lives to his. This passage from Second Maccabees displays the Old Testament belief in eternal life for the righteous. Paul prays for the Thessalonians and asks for their prayers as they strive to live out their mission. In the Gospel, a trick question by the Sadducees leads to a teaching on eternal life and resurrection linked back to the time of Moses.

This week’s second collection will be for the Bishop’s Appeal.  Last week’s 2nd collection for the Building Fund totaled  $ 1,090.43.  Next week’s 2nd collection will be for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. All Saints: $ 1,176.00; All Souls: $ 591.00
