Sunday Scripture

The Holy Spirit stands at our side to defend us from the snares of the Evil One. Whom do we rely on to help us make sense of everyday life? Are we do-it-yourselfers? Or do we turn to others in times of trouble or when we need to make a decision? How does God figure in the decisions we make throughout our lives? Jesus sent us the Holy Spirit to guide us in the way of his truth. In the first reading, the early Church leaders wrestled with fundamental laws that determined who they were as followers of Christ. In the Gospel, Jesus leaves his disciples with peace and the promise of the Holy Spirit, the Advocate. Revelation gives a vision of the New Jerusalem.
