This Sunday we celebrating Corpus Christi. After 10.30AM Holy Mass while carrying the Blessed Sacrament, we shall stop at four outdoor altars for the visible display of the Blessed Sacrament in a monstrance. This year, as we walk together, there will be prayers, the Gospel, with supplications sung, and blessings with the Blessed Sacrament (Benediction). At the fourth altar, blessings will be extended to the four corners of the world. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PARTICIPATION AND HELP.
On this Friday (May 30)following the Feast of Corpus Christi is the devotional Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus with the theme of this day which honors Jesus for the love symbolized by His Heart. Devotion to the Sacred Heart became popular with mystics in the 13th & 14th centuries, with a special promotion by the Jesuits in the 16th century. The tradition became widespread as a result of a series of visions of the Sacred Heart revealed to the Patroness of our church; St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, a French Visitation nun, between 1673 – 1675. Almost 200 years later, in 1856, a special feast was mandated for the Universal Church. In 1899, Pope Leo XIII ordered that the world be consecrated to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Pope Pius XI elevated the feast to the same rank as Christmas. There are many religious traditions associated with devotion to the Sacred Heart apart from the feast itself.

Sunday Scripture

Though the Eucharist, God brings about a unique transformation in us. All things are made new through Christ. This transformation began when Christ came among us, and continue to this day. In particular, Christ is present to us in the Eucharist. Through the Eucharist, we can be transformed, strengthened to live more Christ-like lives and nourished with the food that can lead to eternal life.

In Deuteronomy, Moses implores the people to remember how God did something new by feeding them with manna. Jesus calls the Jews to understand that he is like new manna sent from the Father. Unlike before, this bread from  heaven gives eternal life. Paul calls us to remember that the bread and cup we share in the Eucharist is truly Christ.
