Text Box: Sunday Scripture
When we endure hardships and persevere for the sake of our faith, we give witness to the Gospel. As disciples, we are called to be witnesses to the Gospel, no matter the cost. We might not be faced, like Stephen, with dying for the sake of Jesus, but we are called to dedicate our lives to him. As we do this, we are united to Him, and to one another, as we carry on the important work of building up God's Kingdom.
In Acts, we hear about Stephen being martyred for his witness regarding Jesus. Stephen prays for God to forgive his executioners. In Revelation, John's vision includes Jesus declaring that he is the beginning and the end, the first and the last. In today's Gospel, Jesus prays for his disciples and for those who will follow them.
