ST. ANNE’S GUILD CORNER
Hello fellow Guild members and friends, We had a very exciting meeting last Sat, March 1. We missed those of you who couldn't make it.  The main topic was how we can encourage parishioners to join the Guild, and so increase our membership base. There are two events scheduled to help us draw in more members:  the "Afternoon Tea", Saturday, March 15 at 2 pm in the parish hall, directed more at the wives, mothers and daughters (10yrs and up) of the parish; and an evening "Wine and Cheese"  on April 13 or 19 at 6:30 pm at the Cumbelich home in Piedmont, directed at women and men who don't like to drink tea (too much water)!

We are considering having a featured speaker at this meeting, perhaps a Dominican priest who runs workshops to help people identify their God -given gifts and charismas.  This would be a short talk about this program, as well as a short talk about the Guild and it's mission in our parish.  Our aim for these two "membership drives" is to invite everyone who is already giving of their time to the parish in any capacity, to become actual St. Anne's Guild members, thus enlarging the pool of willing volunteers for the many needs that our parish has, and build some bridges between all the generous souls that attend our parish.  Of course those who haven't gotten their feet wet yet should also be invited!
Sara Cumbelich, Valerie Burkart and Grace da Silva have volunteered to organize the 2 membership drives.

What would be the advantage of being a Guild member?
One idea was to schedule a speaker at each meeting, for instance, the Dominican priest I spoke of above, or have someone from the cathedral proje
ct come speak to the Guild about the art work that will go in the cathedral.  How about traveling together to see any church named for St. Anne in the Bay Area? The goal here Text Box: is to provide fun, and desireable community building events for just Guild members.

How can we help?
We will need to help by bringing the refreshments for both events, even fancy cups and saucers, teapots, anything related to a tea party.
And of course, bring another parishioner to either or both events! And share the love for our parish by working to increase membership in the St. Anne's Guild. May these remaining days of Lent be blessed with many good spiritual fruits for all of us. St. Anne, Pray for us!, Lily.

Next Guild meeting will be Saturday, April 5.  9 am arrival, meeting starts promptly at 9:30
We will appreciate your placing this date on your calendar.

EASTER PARADE UPDATE
For a few years now, our parish has participated in St. Vincent de Paul’s Easter Parade project. The Easter Parade project provides new clothes for low income children in our diocese for Easter.
In the vestibule of our church, near the choir loft door, is the familiar “clothes line” with tags for children’s clothes. Just take a tag, purchase either a dress for a girl, or pants and shirt for a boy in the size indicated on the tag.

Please remember to bring back the clothing no later than Palm Sunday, March 16, before 3 pm. All the clothing will be taken on Monday morning, March 17, to the St. Vincent de Paul Center, so it’s really helpful to the few people that have undertaken this task if your donations arrive on time. A laundry basket is under the rack in which to place your donated clothing items. Thank you to those who are participating in this fun and very worthy clothing drive for the poor children of Oakland. May God reward your generosity!

CLEANING OF THE CHURCH BEFORE EASTER
We need volunteers for the "deep cleaning" of the church, to take place Friday, March 14th, following the 6 p.m. Holy Mass.  Please sign up to help prepare our church for our Lord's glorious feast of Easter Sunday.  Contact Maria Cornett @ (925) 388-0680 if you can attend this effort.
Thank you and God bless you during this season of Lent.

SUPPORT SARAH'S LAW
Sarah's Law will require that a physician notify a parent or adult family member at least 48 hours before performing an abortion on a minor girl under the age of 18.  If you are a registered voter, please sign the initiative measure that will be available after the Masses on this Sunday, March 9, 2008.  Thank you.
