Text Box: Sunday Scripture
Faith in Christ quenches our deepest thirst for salvation and life. There is not a more basic human need than for water. It is essential for life. Still, there is a thirst that goes beyond this physical need. That is a thirst for meaning to our lives and for union with our Creator. Through Jesus Christ, God satisfies our deepest thirsts. When we open our hearts to Christ, we receive living water, which can bring us to eternal life.
Our first reading tells that while in the desert the Israelites complain of thirst and question God's presence with them. In the second reading, we are reminded that Jesus died for us when we were still sinners. This revealed the depths of God's love for us. In the Gospel, Jesus offers a Samaritan woman the living water that wells up to eternal life.
Text Box: Last week, the second collection for the Catholic Relief Services (Bishop’s Overseas Appeal). amounted to $ 1,006.00. This week, the 2nd collection is for the Parish Development Fund.
