INFORMATION ABOUT DIVINE MERCY Our Blessed Lord appeared to Sister Faustina and revealed His Divine Mercy for the world. Every Friday at 3 pm we say Divine Mercy Chaplet in our parish. Novena takes place from Good Friday until Divine Mercy Sunday (Sunday after Easter). The Chaplet of the Divine Mercy The Chaplet of The Divine Mercy is said on regular rosary beads. It is prayed in the following order. 1) Our Father Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. 2) Hail Mary Hail Mary, full of grace; the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. 3) Apostle's Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen. 4) On Large Bead before each Decade Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the world. 5) Once on each of the Ten Small Beads For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. 6) Concluding Doxology (after five decades repeat three times) Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and the whole world. ** ** * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Feast of Mercy and Mercy Sunday St. Faustina's Diary contains at least fourteen entries in |

which Our Lord asks that a "Feast of Mercy" be established in the Church. He said: "This Feast emerged from the very depth's of My mercy, and it is confirmed in the vast depths of my tender mercies…It is My desire that it be solemnly celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter…I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fountain of My mercy." The image of the Jesus, Divine Mercy, should have a special place in the Church on the Feast of Mercy. Jesus promised to grant complete forgiveness of sins and punishment on the Feast of Mercy, this is referenced to three times in the Blessed Faustina's Diary: "I want to grant a complete pardon to the souls that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion on the Feast of My mercy." "Whoever approaches the Fountain of Life on this day will be granted complete forgiveness of sins and punishment." "The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion will obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishments." Jesus also promises: "On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fountain of My mercy. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishments. On that day all the Divine floodgates through which graces flow are opened." Jesus' many words to St. Faustina about the requirement in our lives to be merciful are very strong: "Yes, the first Sunday after Easter is the Feast of Mercy, but there must also be acts of mercy…I demand from you deeds of mercy, which are to arise out of your love for Me. You are to show mercy to your neighbors always and everywhere. You must not shrink from this or try to excuse or absolve yourself from it" Acts of mercy as taught by the Church: CORPORAL 1. Feed the hungry 2. Give drink to the thirsty 3. Clothe the naked . 4. Shelter the homeless 5. Comfort the imprisoned 6. Visit the sick 7. Bury the dead SPIRITUAL |
