EASTER SEASON

The fifty days from Easter Sunday to Pentecost are celebrated in joyful exultation as one feast day, or better, as one GREAT SUNDAY. The first eight days of the Easter Season make up the Octave of Easter and are celebrated as solemnities of the Lord.

Sunday Scripture

Leading lives rooted in love, sincerity and truth gives testimony to the world that we are Easter people! Through the waters of Baptism, we die with Christ to sin and rise with him to new life. Let us mark ourselves as both an Easter people and disciples of Jesus by leading lives of sincerity and truth, and by seeking the treasures of heaven. Alleluia, Jesus Christ has risen!

Today’s psalm reminds us that on this Easter Sunday it is, indeed, fitting to rejoice and be glad as we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection from the dead.  In the Gospel, we hear how Easter joy and hope spread among the disciples as they received news of the empty tomb. On this day, of all days, may our hearts be filled with wonder, awe and joy!
