Sunday Scripture

True forgiveness that heals our hearts and souls comes from God. The parable of the prodigal son tells of a parent's undying love and compassion for his son who sinned against heaven and earth. The season of Lent reminds us that God is waiting with open arms for us to come back to him. The forgiveness of God is truly a great gift! The joy of forgiveness permeates the Scripture readings today. Joshua rejoices as Israel celebrates the Passover in the Promised Land. Paul exults in the new life gained by his followers through their reconciliation to God. The Gospel recalls a father's joy upon the return of his wayward son.
