Text Box: Sunday Scripture

Prayer brings us into deeper union with God, and fosters greater unity within the Church. In daily prayer we open ourselves to God. When we allow God to transform, strengthen and guide us, our relationship with him deepens. We grow to love more wholeheartedly. Just as the early Church acted in one accord through its prayer, communal prayer continues to foster greater unity in the Church today.
After the Ascension of Jesus into heaven, the Apostles return to Jerusalem and devote themselves to prayer as they await the coming of the Holy Spirit. The second reading teaches that those who suffer because of their faith give glory to God. In the Gospel, Jesus prays to his Father on behalf of all those who believe in him.
