PARISH FAMILY NIGHT

On next Sunday, June 28th we would like to invite all our parishioners: young and old, with children and without, to celebrate that afternoon together. You can come to the 3:30pm Holy Mass (Marian Movement of Priests) and Holy Hour afterwards; or just come to the Parish Hall for the 5:00pm Potluck Dinner. Bring some food to share.  After the dinner, we will watch the Ignatius Press movie “Paul - Contending for the Faith”, the latest movie of the “Footprints of God” series of Steve Ray (catholicconvert.com)

On June 29th, next day, we will celebrate the ending of the “Year of St. Paul” (1000 years from his birthday).

For more information, please call Lily Mullen at (925)827-1946.

Sunday Scripture

We only need to ask, and Jesus will come to our assistance. Being human enables us to experience pleasures, such as joy, delight and peace. The flip side of these feelings is that we also experience painful emotions, like sadness or fear. Our burdens have the potential to become moments of grace if we are able to recognize our need for God and call on him to help us.

In today's first reading, Job is reminded of God's incredible power over all of creation. Job is told that God is with him in his distress. Paul makes a statement of faith: that Christ died for all, so that all may have life in him. In the Gospel, Jesus calms the violent sea, displaying his power, as the Son of God, over creation.
