Text Box: Sunday Scripture:

Before his death, Jesus prayed to the Father so that all who believe in him may have eternal life. As Jesus prepared to leave this world, he offered his prayer to the Father. Jesus prayed for humanity and he prayed that he would be glorified. Later, the disciples of Jesus gathered and prayed. We can also pray for ourselves. One of our prayers could be that we will one day dwell in the house of the Lord forever. In today's Gospel, we see that Jesus prays to the Father. It is this earnest prayer that reveals the love that Jesus had for humanity. The theme of prayer is echoed in the first reading as the disciples gathered after the Ascension.
