Sunday Scripture

If  we follow the Lord by listening  to his words and acting on them, we are promised eternal life in heaven. Today’s readings tell us that entrance into the Kingdom of God will require more than  a calling out to the Lord. Jesus encouraged his disciples then, as he encourages us today, to listen to his words and act on them. In doing this we will be on the path to the heavenly Kingdom.

All of today’s Scriptures distinguish between speaking words that, on the surface, make us appear to be true believers, and living our lives in surrender to God. Jesus tells his disciples that entrance into the Kingdom of heaven will not be a matter of simply asking to gain entrance. Instead, Jesus tells us to listen to his words and act on them.
