Sunday Scripture

Be persistent in prayer and nag if you must; God hears you every time. The truth of today's psalm, Lord, on the day I called for help, you answered me, may not always be apparent. There are times when we pray and it seems that God is either not listening or is unwilling to give us what we want. The Scriptures tell us to be persistent and to keep praying; that in God's time our prayers are always answered. Abraham asks God to spare Sodom and Gomorrah if he can find some innocent people and God agrees–five times! Abraham's prayer was answered, yet he wanted a little more. Jesus tells his disciples that they must ask the Father for their needs and be persistent in their prayers. He tells them–and us–to ask in order to receive.
