Text Box: 94th ANNIVERSARY OF APPARITION OF OUR LADY AT FATIMA; 1917—2011
Every year from May to October in many Catholic Parishes around the world Catholic faithful celebrate the anniversary of the apparition of Our Lady to three Portuguese children: Francisco, Jacinta and Lucia. We celebrate Fatima Services in our Church every month with Holy Mass, the Rosary in different languages, and a procession with statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Fatima inside the church. The Fatima Service will be celebrated this week on Wednesday July 13th 2011 at 7:30PM. Divine Liturgy in Byzantine Ukrainian Rite will be celebrated. Please save this date and inform and invite others who would like to participate in this Eastern Rite Liturgy. If you have questions; please call Fr Stan (510-482-0596), ext. 202.

Text Box: Sunday Scripture
Our faith grows from the seeds of God's love in our hearts. The love of God made present in our lives and felt in our hearts is what helps cultivate our faith and make it grow deeper and richer. Like planted seeds, we are constantly challenged to nurture our faith, grow in our love for God, and blossom. We do this through prayer, Scripture reflection and reception of the Sacraments.
Isaiah speaks of God's words as being fruitful and fertile. Paul speaks of the faithful as being given the firstfruits of the Spirit. In the Gospel, Jesus compares people's openness to faith in terms of seeds falling on various soils. He makes the point that for faith to grow and be fruitful we must be open to living the gospel message.
