RITE OF ACCEPTANCE

This Sunday, January 24, our new inquirers will be taking a close look at the first step towards baptism and other sacraments. We will be talking about acceptance. Acceptance is a big step in being a Christian in the Roman Catholic Church. This step will say to the members of this parish and the church at large, that they are ready to accept that Jesus is becoming a very important part of their daily lives. The first step of acceptance will bring them to the Rite of Acceptance on this Sunday, January 24, at our 10:30 a.m. Mass.

I invite all of you, parishioners of St. Margaret Mary, to the Rite of Acceptance as a supporting community to these disciples on their journey to the Eucharist, Confirmation, and Baptism. Please pray for their intentions.

At the Rite of Acceptance, you will witness their acceptance of the cross on which Jesus suffered and died for all. You will also witness the Signing of the Senses to integrate all that the church has to offer.

100 ANNIVERSARY OF THE

WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY (JAN. 18 – 25)

Tomorrow,   the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul the Apostle: It is the end of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.

The theme for the year 2010 was: ”You are witnesses of these things”. It comes from Luke's gospel Chapter 24 verse 48. A world observance, the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is an important expression of ecumenical activity at the local level.

Text Box: Sunday Scripture

As we hear God's word proclaimed, we become better able to share it with others. Our readings today help us recognize that the proclamation of the word of God is integral to the Church's liturgical celebrations. This is because the lessons that our Scripture readings offer are foundational to our way of life, and surely will impact how we, in turn, share Christ's message with the rest of the world.
In today's first reading, Ezra reads the Law to the people, who are told to rejoice. In the second reading, Paul teaches that all are members of Christ's body and are necessary to the Lord's purpose. In the Gospel, Jesus claimed to be the fulfillment of Isaiah's prophecy. He did this in the synagogue in Nazareth.
