We are to seek the Kingdom of God and its riches above material things. As Christians, we are not to become too tied to the treasures and allurements of our earthly surroundings. Instead, we are to live a simpler life, seeking the riches of God's Kingdom above material things. God wants us to have what we truly need, but not to make things the focus of our lives.
Today's first and second readings remind us that we will have to stand before God to give an account of our lives. They tell us that we must put our lives in order before it is too late. The Gospel tells of Jesus calling the first disciples, and their immediate and total response to follow Him.

Text Box: This week’s second collection will be for the Parish Development Fund. Last week’s 2nd collection for the Oakland Seminary Fund. totaled $ 1,175. Next week’s 2nd collection will be for the SVDPS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT OF OUR PARISH. MAY GOD REWARD YOUR GENEROSITY.
