Text Box: Sunday Scripture:
Jesus, the beloved Son of God, is revealed to be the one sent by God to bring salvation. We recognize the servant of God, prophesied by Isaiah, as Jesus of Nazareth who comes to John and requests baptism. John knows that he is not worthy to baptize Jesus. A voice declares: This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. We are to imitate Him. He is our guide so that God will be well pleased with us. The first reading from Isaiah tells of the servant of God with whom God is pleased and upon whom God has put his spirit. God is well pleased with him, whom we know as Jesus. Acts tells the story of how God revealed that the good news was to be preached to all people, not just the Jews. Matthew tells of the beginning of Jesus' ministry.

This week’s second collection will be for the Bishop’s Appeal.  Last week’s second collection for the Building Fund totaled $ 844.00. Next week’s second collection will be for the Seminary Fund.
