CAN YOU HELP A PARISHIONER?

One of our parishioners requires medication which is  not covered by Medicare or Medicaid, which costs approximately $250.00 per month. If you are interested in helping pay for this, please make out a check to SVdP with annotation of “medical expense” and put it into any weekend collection or send to the Parish Office.

BITTER LAMENTATIONS & STATIONS: Lenten Vespers (sung Evening Prayer) about the sufferings and death of Our Lord Jesus Christ will be celebrated every Sunday of Lent at 5:00 PM; except February 28 and March 28; followed by Benediction and Holy Mass. Please come and invite others to participate in this beautiful Vespers. Stations of the Cross are recited every Friday after the Holy Masses.

Sunday Scripture

What the devil offers may seem attractive, but he does not deliver what he promises. On this first Sunday of Lent, the Church reminds us that the devil is powerful and bold, appearing to have much to offer. Jesus, however, shows us that God has even more, and that God's love has been shown throughout the ages. During this Lent, let us focus our hearts on God's love, as we strive to live more fully according to his will.

Today's first reading recalls the love with which God has cared for his people from ancient times. Moses instructs the Israelites how to show God their gratitude. In the second reading, Paul teaches that all who believe in Jesus and follow his teachings will be saved. The Gospel tells of the temptations Jesus experienced in the desert.
