Text Box: Sunday Scripture
We are called to share in the glory of resurrection. Through the Sacraments of Initiation-Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist-we become part of the Church, the Body of Christ. As such, we are called to holiness-to live as disciples of Christ. We celebrate His Presence in the Eucharist offered in reparation for the sins of the living and the dead (CC1414) and look with hope to Christ’s pledge of glory with him (1419). In today’s first reading we hear how Isaiah responded to God’s call to be his prophet: Here I am, send me! Paul reminds the Corinthians of the central mystery that calls all Christians: Christ died for our sins and was raised on the third day. In the Gospel, Jesus tells Simon-and James and John-that their fishing efforts will involve catching men.
