have no chance to satisfy even once. This time of Holy Season of Lent is also time of sharing. Our Lord Jesus said: “I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me”!!!. Please share whatever you have with others, who are less fortunate than you.

Pick  up an Operation Rice Bowl to your home and fill it up with your money, bring it back to our church March 15/16th – Palm Sunday. THANK YOU FOR

YOUR GENEROSITY.

We are also collecting imperishable food items for the Saint Vincent de Paul Society to feed the hungry people in Oakland.. In the vestibule of our church barrels for food are placed. PLEASE SHARE YOUR FOOD WITH HUNGRY PEOPLE.

3rd All-Night-Adoration

March 7th - March 8th

On the feast of St. Thomas Aquinas, March 7th, we will have our third All-Night Adoration at St. Margaret Mary. Stations of the Cross will be prayed at 6:00 pm, followed by High Mass and Exposition. We will solemnly expose the Blessed Sacrament until the next morning at 7:00 am. This all-night adoration follows the feast of the “Doctor Angelicus”, St. Thomas Aquinas, and immediately precedes Passion Sunday (March 9th). It is designed to help the faithful prepare even more effectively for the coming celebrations of Holy Week and Easter. A sign-up schedule for Adoration hours will be available two weeks before the feast. (Note that St. Thomas Aquinas, who taught so admirably especially about the mysteries of the Eucharist, is another co-patron of the Institute of Christ the King and that a plenary indulgence is attached to the attendance of the Mass on the 7th of March, under the usual conditions.) For further information contact Fr. Wiener at (510) 482-2053 or father.wiener@institute-christ-king.org.

Archbishop Ranjith about

Hand Communion

The secretary of the Congregation for Divine Worship has called for reconsideration of the practice of Communion in the hand. In the preface to a new Italian-language book on the Eucharist, written by a bishop from Kazakhstan and released in January by the Vatican's official publishing house, Archbishop Albert Malcolm Ranjith Patabendige Don suggests that the reception of Communion in the hand has contributed to a general sense of "carelessness" about the Eucharist, as well as some flagrant abuses.  The practice of receiving Communion in the hand was not mandated by Vatican II, nor was it introduced in response to calls from the laity, Archbishop Ranjith writes. Instead, he argues, an established practice of piety-- receiving the Eucharist kneeling, on the tongue-- was changed "improperly and hurriedly," and became widespread even before it was formally approved by the Vatican. In light of a widespread lack of reverence for the Eucharist, the archbishop suggests that it is "high time to review" the policy. While he does not condemn the practice of Communion in the hand, the Vatican official praises Bishop Schneider for arguing in favor of the older practice, saying that it helps to foster a proper sense of reverence and piety.
