Text Box: Sunday Scripture
The time of preparation, anticipation, and expectation is upon us. As Advent begins, we celebrate a season very different in tone from what is taking place in the world around us. This time in the Church is marked by simplicity, calmness, and quiet. We wait in hope and wonder for Jesus, who became human for us, who is present in our lives now, and whose future reign is coming. Jeremiah announces, in the first reading, that the days are coming when the promise of God will be fulfilled. Paul reminds the Thessalonians to be strong in their faith. In the Gospel, Jesus extols his listeners to be vigilant in prayer and strength.
