Text Box: Sunday Scripture

Let us rejoice in Gaudete Sunday, half way to Christmas. Its color rose is a sign of hope. When excitement builds, as it certainly does for children at Christmastime, there is often a temptation to jump right into the event without having properly prepared for it. We do this too often. Such things take away from the joy of the actual feast. We still have time to properly prepare our souls and our hearts for the true meaning of Christmas.
The first reading from Zephaniah exhorts the Israelites to rejoice and be glad. The second reading from Philippians reminds us that we are to rejoice in the Lord always. In the Gospel, John the Baptist teaches that one mightier than he was coming who would baptize people with the Holy Spirit and fire.
Text Box: This week’s second collection will be for the Catholic Voice Fund . Last week’s 2nd collection for the Religious Retirement Fund totaled $1,296. Next week’s 2nd collection will be for the Parish Development Fund. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT! MAY GOD REWARD YOUR GENEROSITY.
