Every year from May to October in many Catholic Parishes around the world, Catholics celebrate the anniversary of the apparition of Our Lady to three Portuguese children: Francisco, Jacinta and Lucia. We plan to celebrate Fatima Services in our church every month with Holy Mass, the Rosary in different languages, and a procession with the statue of the Blessed Lady of Fatima inside the church. The Fatima Service will be this Thursday, August 13th 2009 at 7.30PM. Please save this date and inform others.

Please mark your calendar for this celebration. More information is on the special flyer inserted to this Bulletin. Mrs. Arden Glass is in charge of the Reception after the Mass. If you like to help; please contact her at: 510-537-9900; or e-mail:

Text Box: Sunday Scripture
The Lord provides for our needs, that we may persevere in faith and serve him with gladness. Life’s difficulties can bring us, at times, to want to give up and say, like the prophet Elijah: This is enough, O Lord! Take my life. But there is no reason to allow despair to take hold of our lives. Just as God provided Elijah with what he needed to carry on, He will provide for us in any time or circumstance of our lives.
The reading from the Kings tells how an angel ministered to Elijah so he could complete his journey to Mount Horeb. The second reading reminds us that we are God’s dearly beloved children and are called to live in love. In the Gospel, Jesus teaches the Jews that he is the living bread that comes down from heaven.
