TODAY IS FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION

AUGUST 15

A Holy Day of Obligation.

Schedule of Masses is same as a Sunday

Text Box: Sunday Scripture
As we look to Mary in heavenly glory, we anticipate our own resurrection from the dead. Today we celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The feasts and solemnities of Mary honor her while pointing us to the saving grace of Jesus; the creative power of the Father; and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Indeed, Mary's Assumption reminds us that we, too, can one day dwell in that divine communion of love.
Today's first reading describes the struggle between good and evil, using the image of a woman giving birth to the Anointed One. The second reading speaks of Christ raising up his own at the end of time. The Gospel tells of the visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary to Elizabeth, recalling Mary's openness and courage in doing God's will.
