Text Box: 91st ANNIVERSARY OF APPARITION OF OUR LADY AT FATIMA; 1917—2007 Every year from May to October in many Catholic Parishes around the world, Catholics celebrate the anniversary of the apparition of Our Lady to three Portuguese children: Francisco, Jacinta and Lucia. We plan to celebrate Fatima Services in our church every month with Holy Mass, the Rosary in different languages, and a procession. The Fatima Service will be on Wednesday, August 13th 2007 at 7:30PM. Please save this date and inform others. If you speak other languages, please call Fr Stan (510-482-0596) THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY On August 15, we will celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary; known also as the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin (in the Eastern Churches), for Her body did not know corruption after death, but together with her soul, was taken up into heaven. This week on Friday, August 15th is the Holy Day of obligation. Novus Ordo Holy Masses will be celebrated as follows: 8:00AM (Eng.), 10:30AM (Latin) and 8:00PM (Eng.). Extraordinary Rite of the Mass will be celebrated at 6.00. This Feast is associated with the old custom of the blessing of flowers and herbs. On Friday, August 15th, during the 8:00AM, 10:30AM and 8:00PM Holy Masses, we will have the blessing of flowers and herbs. Please bring them to our church. You can also offer some flowers to Our Lady’s Shrine in our church. ALTAR BOY TRAINING There will be an All-Day Altar Boy Training Session, the week of August 24th, (day TBA) from 9:00am to 4:00pm, here at St. Margaret Mary Church. Lunch will Text Box: Sunday Scripture We can counteract the turbulence of life with the peace of Christ. In the Eucharist, we are offered the special peace that can only come from communion with Christ. This indwelling peace of Christ is the sources of our power as Church. Through this peace we can counteract the turbulence of the world, and show it the gentle power of God. The prophet Elijah learns that one must wait for a time of tranquility, when the storms of doubt and despair have passed, if one wants to hear the voice of God. Saint Paul recognizes Christ can only be found within the Church. In the Gospel, Jesus calms the storm and rescues Peter when his faith weakens.
