Sunday Scripture

Jesus died for our sins, and brought us the hope of new life by His Resurrection. Jesus was put to death for our sins. His suffering and death were expiation for our sins and for those of the whole world. His Resurrection and Ascension brought to fruition His mission on earth: To open the gates of heaven, giving us the hope of eternal life with God.

In today's first reading, Peter calls for people to repent, for Christ died for our sins, as the prophets foretold. The second reading asserts that the death of Jesus was expiation for the sins of the whole world. In the Gospel, the Risen Jesus appears to the disciples and opens their minds to understand the Scriptures regarding Him.
