Sunday Scripture

As living  stones, we are called to help build up the Kingdom of God. Scripture tells us that Jesus is the cornerstone of our faith, and that we are like living stones for God to  use to build up his Kingdom. If we are not sure how to make this come about, we have only to look to Jesus, who assures us that he is not only Truth and Life, but the Way to the Father.

Our first reading tells how the order of deacons was established. The second reading calls Jesus the cornerstone of our faith. In the Gospel,  Jesus tells his disciples that he will prepare a place for them in his eternal Kingdom. The questions of Thomas and Philip indicate that they have not grasped the teaching that Jesus and the Father are one.
