Text Box: THE FEAST OF DIVINE MERCY Today April 19 is Sunday of Divine Mercy: 2.00PM -Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament for private Adoration and Rosary. The Sacrament of Confession will be administered during that time. 3.00PM - We start to sing the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, followed by Benediction; the Holy Mass will be celebrated afterwards. Special booklets with Chaplet and other prayers are available at the tables where the Parish Bulletins are. Please invite your relatives and friends to celebrate this Feast of Divine Mercy together. The messages of Mercy that St. Faustina received are today being spread throughout the world. She was given the title "Venerable" by the church on May 7, 1992, her beatification took place in Rome on April 18, 1993, the Sunday after Easter, the Feast of Divine Mercy. On April 30, 2000 (Divine Mercy Sunday) St. Faustina was canonized. A Decree establishing Divine Mercy Sunday for the whole Church was issued by the Sacred Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments on May 5th 2000. After the Mass, we will share a potluck dinner in the hall, then watch Jerzy Lukaszewicz film “Faustina” – the Mystical Life of the Visionary of Divine Mercy. Today is Divine Mercy Sunday; a day when we take special note of the wonder of God’s mercy in forgiving our sins and granting us reconciliation with himself. This is a relatively new solemnity, instituted by Pope John Paul in 2000. Today is a day to be especially grateful for God’s mercy and to demonstrate our gratitude by showing kindness to others. Today’s first reading tells how the early Christians loved and cared for one another. No one was in need. The second reading reminds us that. when we believe in Jesus and follow his commands, we conquer the world. In the Gospel, the Risen Jesus comes to the disciples. He gives them the Holy Spirit and the power to forgive us.
